As a pediatric endocrinologist, I specialize in the treatment of infants, children, and adolescents with a wide variety of types of hormonal dysregulation. I care for a large number of patients with type 1 diabetes, using many of the new therapy modalities, including insulin pumps, and glucose sensors. I am a very active investigator in the international Macrogenics Protege trial, in which a monoclonal antibody is infused to alter the immune response, in order to delay the progression of type 1 diabetes. I have a very individualized approach to the management and treatment of short stature, in which I take many factors into account, including, the height of the child, this particular child's growth pattern, different test results, and the ideaology of the family. I recognize that disorders of puberty, such as early or late puberty, take a large toll on the adolescent's general well being and discuss at length the different therapeutic options. I have recently submitted research data which reveal a 100% success rate at treating Graves disease in children and adolescents by using radioiodine ablation as first line therapy. I have a very individualized, family centered, holistic approach to treating overweight patients. |
