About Me

Dr. Watemberg was born in Colombia where he obtained his MD degree in 1981. He immigrated to Israel, completing a residency in Pediatrics in 1991. After practicing in primary care in Israel, he moved to Richmond, Virginia in 1993, where he completed a residency in neurology and child neurology at the Medical College of Virginia, as well as a fellowship in epilepsy and neurophysiology. He is Board certified in Pediatrics and in neurology with special competence in child neurology.

Upon returning to Israel in 1998, he joined the pediatric neurology unit at Wolfson Medical Center, affiliated to Tel Aviv University School of Medicine. During the eight and-a-half years at Wolfson?s, Dr. Watemberg developed a successful academic career, publishing over 50 papers in the international medical literature. He also directed the epilepsy program, which became a referral center for pediatric epilepsy cases throughout Israel.

Since March 2006, Dr. Watemberg has acted as director of Child Neurology and the Child Development Center at Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, Israel, also affiliated to Tel Aviv University. In the 18 months since taking charge of both services, Dr. Watemberg has continued to publish academic papers, reaching close to 70 by the end of 2007. He is a reviewer for several prestigious medical Journals, such as Pediatrics, Epilepsia, Archives of Disease in Childhood, Developmental Medicine and Child Neurology, and The Journal of Child Neurology. Since July 2006, he has served as an Editorial Board member of the Journal of Child Neurology.

Currently, his major research and clinical activities center around childhood epilepsy, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and headache. He was recently elected as a member of the Israeli Child Neurology Association steering Committee.
